The United Arab Emirates has expressed support for a recent U.S. call to establish an immediate and unconditional humanitarian truce in Sudan. This comes amid ongoing conflict in the region, with the UAE urging for a renewed commitment towards achieving a political settlement.
UAE Minister of State Sheikh Shakhboot bin Nahyan Al Nahyan highlighted the nation’s backing of international efforts aimed at ending the fighting and initiating a political process that could pave the way for a civilian government. He emphasized the importance of protecting civilians and addressing the escalating humanitarian crisis in Sudan.
The UAE has also advocated for an expansion of the United Nations arms embargo to encompass the entirety of Sudan’s territory. According to the UAE, this measure could play a critical role in reducing the flow of weapons into the country and enhancing the protection of civilians.
Reaffirming its commitment to a peaceful resolution, the UAE stated its intention to continue collaborating with international partners. The goal is to support a political solution that could alleviate the suffering inflicted by the ongoing conflict in Sudan.
