During a significant diplomatic visit to Kuwait, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan emphasized the need for enhanced regional peace and stability, amid escalating tensions following missile and drone attacks from Iran. The visit underscored the urgency of addressing security concerns in the Gulf region.
In discussions held at Bayan Palace with Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, both leaders reiterated their dedication to bolstering regional security and achieving lasting peace. They also explored avenues for expanding economic and development partnerships, signaling a mutual interest in deepening bilateral cooperation.
The talks took place shortly after Kuwait’s air defenses successfully intercepted a series of ballistic missiles, a cruise missile, and several drones originating from Iran. The interceptions resulted in debris falling across various areas, inflicting injuries on one individual and causing material damage.
Kuwait’s government issued a strong condemnation of the attacks, labeling them a breach of the nation’s sovereignty and a significant threat to regional security. In response, authorities affirmed their intention to take all necessary actions to defend their territory, in accordance with international law.
Echoing Kuwait’s stance, the United Arab Emirates’ Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemned the attacks on both Kuwait and Bahrain, expressing solidarity and support for efforts to ensure the security and stability of these countries. This reaffirmation of support highlights the UAE’s ongoing commitment to regional peace and security.
