US Vice President JD Vance has expressed concerns that certain Israeli government members have attempted to sway American public opinion against a US-supported agreement designed to resolve the conflict with Iran. During a podcast interview, Vance indicated that these officials seemed to prefer the continuation of military actions and actively sought to influence US political perspectives to oppose the deal.
Vance acknowledged that while various nations try to impact American policy, the situation becomes problematic when it begins to affect decision-making processes in the US. He stood by the agreement established last month, which aims to end hostilities with Iran and simultaneously restrict Israel’s military endeavors involving Hezbollah in Lebanon. Vance emphasized that the accord is in line with the strategic interests of the US and highlighted the necessity of maintaining independence in foreign policy decisions.
The Vice President’s comments come on the heels of his previous criticisms regarding Israeli resistance to the Iran deal. The White House has subsequently confirmed that both President Donald Trump and Vice President Vance are unified in their approach to handling the conflict under the current administration’s strategy.
At the time of the publication, there had been no public reaction from Israeli officials concerning Vance’s remarks.
