Dubai is set to embark on a massive development initiative with a portfolio of projects valued at Dh2.1 trillion, as announced by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. This ambitious investment plan aims to bolster the emirate’s economic growth and solidify its status as a global business and investment hub. Key areas of focus include real estate, transport, aviation, energy, and infrastructure, reflecting a comprehensive strategy to meet future demands.

In a significant allocation, Dh1.1 trillion is earmarked for real estate development by 2030, aiming to deliver approximately 350,000 residential units to accommodate the emirate’s expanding population. This initiative is part of a broader vision that Sheikh Mohammed described as creating a “city within a city,” with additional projects anticipated in the future.

Aviation also plays a crucial role in this developmental blueprint. Al Maktoum International Airport is slated to receive Dh128 billion in upgrades, enhancing its capacity to handle up to 260 million passengers annually. Moreover, an additional Dh328 billion will be invested in expanding the fleets of Emirates and flydubai, with Dh18.7 billion dedicated to a new engineering and maintenance complex for Emirates.

On the infrastructure front, the plan includes Dh100 billion for road improvements and the extension of the Dubai Metro Blue and Gold lines. A substantial Dh151 billion is set aside for expanding the emirate’s electricity and water networks, while Dh80 billion will go towards the Dubai Strategic Sewerage Tunnels system.

Furthermore, the Dubai International Financial Centre is poised for its second phase of development, with an investment of Dh100 billion to enhance its financial services sector and global business infrastructure. This move aims to fortify Dubai’s position in the international financial arena.

Sheikh Mohammed emphasized the emirate’s forward-thinking approach, highlighting the importance of long-term planning and infrastructure development. By investing proactively, Dubai seeks to expand its housing, improve transport connectivity, boost aviation capacity, and enhance essential services, all while supporting economic diversification and attracting international investment.
