The UAE Urban Search and Rescue team has once again achieved the distinguished “heavy” classification from the International Search and Rescue Advisory Group (INSARAG), a UN-affiliated organization. This marks the third time the team, part of the Abu Dhabi Civil Defence Authority, has earned this top international rating, underscoring the UAE’s leadership in emergency preparedness and disaster response.

In a ceremony held at Qasr Al Bahr Palace, UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan extended his congratulations to the team for their accomplishment. He commended the team for their professionalism, dedication, and readiness to act swiftly in the face of natural disasters and humanitarian crises both domestically and worldwide. This achievement, he noted, mirrors the UAE’s commitment to upholding humanitarian values and reinforces its prominent role in global disaster management efforts.

The recognition by INSARAG reaffirms the UAE’s reputation for excellence in emergency response capabilities. The “heavy” classification is the highest level of recognition that can be awarded, signifying a team’s capability to conduct complex and sustained search and rescue operations. The UAE’s consistent attainment of this status highlights the country’s ongoing dedication to maintaining high standards and readiness in dealing with emergencies.

The ceremony was attended by Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, along with senior officials and guests, further emphasizing the significance of this achievement for the nation. The presence of such dignitaries reflects the importance placed on the UAE’s contributions to international disaster response and the pride taken in the team’s continued success.
